58 |ADAYINTHELIFE| 5.30AM -- 9AM I have a rigorous morning routine. I'm a very early riser. I wake up at 5.30am. I'm a huge advocate for apple cider vinegar and I always have a tablespoon of it as soon as I wake up. That zing shakes me back to life! After that, I need my black coffee. At about 6am, I go for a walk with my dog, and I'll return home to do some yoga. This is followed by a beautiful, healthy breakfast with my husband. The morning routine is fixed and precious; my days vary, so it's good to have my mornings set in a regular pattern. The only time my routine gets thrown out of the window is when I'm shooting for Shark Tank. I then need to be ready by 5.30am -- that's when a car is sent to pick me up for shoots. 9AM -- 5PM I really can't tell you for certain what my working hours are like. If I'm on the set for Shark Tank, that's pretty much my entire day spent at the shoot. There will be two hours of hair and make-up, and then rehearsals, plus the filming. If I'm not shooting, I will be at RedBalloon's headquarters by 9am. There are always meetings to attend, a lunch appointment or an event I'm speaking at or have to attend. I tend to travel a lot for work too. As an entrepreneur, there's no such thing as a regular day. One minute I'm on the phone with the electrician about our security system, the next I'm at a face-to- face meeting with a minister. 6PM -- 10PM I always find this amusing. Whenever I'm shooting for the show, and I'm on set, I'm treated so well by everyone. It's not just me, but everyone else on the show. Throughout the day, I get a lot of 'Miss Simson, would you like a smoothie?' or 'Let me take your shoes and polish them for you' or 'Can I brush your hair and fix your lipstick?' . We're treated like absolute royalty on set. And then, at the end of the day, I get home and I'm rushing to put the garbage out or do a quick grocery run, because we're out of milk, or feed my dog. That transition from being this diva -- although I really am not one! -- to reality still makes me laugh! Regardless of my day or where I'm returning home from, I do have a comforting ritual at the end of the day. My husband and I make it a point to cook and have our dinner together. I don't like going out. People are surprised when I tell them this. I'm a real homebody, and I'm very much happy to never leave my house even on weekends. So I like to have dinners at home and have the night to myself, spend time with my husband and catch up with our four kids, none of whom live at home now. If we're following a television series, we will watch that before going to bed, but I'm strictly tucked in at 10pm. NAOMI SIMSON In the realm of business and entrepreneurship, she's a shark. Naomi Simson is one of Australia's entrepreneurial success stories, her business acumen not to be messed with. You may have seen her bare her teeth or reveal her sharp wit on Channel Ten's Shark Tank as one of the show's judges. Simson entered the world of entrepreneurship with the launch of her online experience gift retail business, RedBalloon, which has won multiple awards over the years. An author and motivational speaker, Simson has her diary full of meetings, appointments and more. State of Play takes a quick peek into her life, and learns, to no one's surprise, that no two days are the same for this dynamic businesswoman.
