State of Play : State of Play - Issue 1
50 | ADAYINTHELIFE | 5:30-7:30AM My day usually starts pretty early. A big part of my life was dedicated to swimming, I competed at a national level including the 2000 Olympic trials. So I think it’s the old swimmer in me that likes to get up and get the day started! I always start my day with some form of exercise. This varies from a boot camp with my husband at North Sydney Oval, to hot yoga at Power Living, a run over the Harbour Bridge (nothing like a good view to kick start the day) or a gym class at Fitness First. 7:30-8:30AM I get ready for work, making healthy lunches for me and my husband while The Today Show is playing in the background. Frenchs Forest doesn’t really have many healthy food options, so I much prefer to take a packed lunch. 10AM-12PM Form Line Extra is a show on Sky Racing that previews the next day’s racing. I will read the form and make notes on all the runners. I flick between Racenet, Best Bets and the Racing NSW website. I also spend time reading the sporting news on The Daily Telegraph, Fox Sports and ESPN. I grew up in a household obsessed with sport and it’s my passion. 1-3PM During the show, we also look at the speed maps of each race, so I spend this time watching race replays and looking at the speed maps to ensure I have plenty of discussion points for the show. Being a huge fan of NBA, I love watching a daily NBA show on YouTube called The Starters. I’ll try to watch an episode while having my lunch. 5-7PM It’s time for hair and make-up. This is also when we go over the rundown of the show with the producer and other panel guests. 7.30pm is show time! The show lasts for 30 minutes, and is shown live on Sky Thoroughbred Central (Foxtel channel 528). 9PM I’ll pack up and head home. I’ll have dinner with my husband, who usually cooks if he is home first. We both love 60 Days In, so we will watch that if it’s on. 10PM I’m currently reading Fair Game and I like to read for about half an hour before going to sleep. ■ JAIMEE ROGERS Jaimee Rogers is no stranger to the Tabcorp community. With eight years in the company, starting in the marketing department and then moving over to the media team as a presenter, Rogers has worked across both the TAB and Sky Racing brands and covers multimedia platforms with television and radio. Every day varies in the media team for Rogers. Here she lets us take a peek into a day as she prepares to host the Form Line Extra show on Sky Racing.
